FAQ

Do you accept medical insurance?

Currently, Functional Medicine Lifestyle is a private-pay practice. We do not bill insurance companies directly. This model allows us to spend significantly more time with you—90 minutes for initial deep-dive consultations—without the restrictions often imposed by traditional insurance plans.

Can I submit my visit to insurance for reimbursement?

Yes. Upon request, we can provide a Superbill, which is a detailed receipt you may submit to your insurance provider for potential out-of-network reimbursement.

Please note that reimbursement is not guaranteed, as coverage varies by plan. We recommend contacting your insurance company in advance and asking about Out-of-Network Nutrition Counseling (CPT codes such as 97802 or 97803).

Can I use my HSA or FSA?

In most cases, yes. Functional and Integrative Nutrition services are generally considered a qualified medical expense under HSA (Health Savings Account) and FSA (Flexible Spending Account) guidelines. We recommend confirming eligibility with your plan administrator.

What happens during the initial 1-on-1 consultation?

Your initial visit is a comprehensive 90-minute deep-dive into your health history, symptoms, lifestyle, nutrition, and goals. We focus on identifying root causes and creating a personalized plan tailored to your unique needs.

Do you offer follow-up sessions?

Yes. Follow-up sessions are 45 minutes and focus on progress assessment, protocol adjustments, lab result interpretation (if applicable), and continued support to help you stay on track.

Do you offer long-term care or packages?

Yes. For clients managing chronic conditions or seeking long-term transformation, we offer 3-month and 6-month comprehensive care packages at discounted rates. Details are discussed during your initial consultation.

Are Functional Lab tests covered by insurance?

Functional lab testing often evaluates deeper biomarkers and sub-clinical imbalances, which many insurance companies consider “investigative” and may not cover. However, depending on your location and insurance plan, some labs may be partially covered.

You may also choose to pay the laboratory directly for advanced testing.

Do I need a physician referral?

A physician referral is not required for nutrition consultations unless we are billing your insurance or if you would like to submit the claim to your insurance.

Are supplements and labs included in the consultation fee?

No. Supplements or labs are not included in the consultation fee. If recommended, they are optional and can be purchased independently or through our professional-grade supplement or lab store.

Do you see clients virtually?

Yes. All consultations are offered virtually, allowing us to work with clients regardless of location.
