What Is Reiki? Reiki is a Japanese technique to reduce stress and encourage relaxation and healing. “It is done by “laying on hands” and is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one’s “life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words – Rei which means “Spiritual” and Ki which is energy”. So Reiki is actually “spiritually guided life force energy.”
A Reiki session makes you feel like a beautiful glow of energy that flows through you making you feel calm and relaxed. Reiki treats the whole person including mind-body, emotions, creating relaxation and feelings of peace, and wellbeing. Many have reported miraculous results. During a session, the client remains clothed and my hands are placed near or lightly touching various parts of the body, including areas around the head, shoulders, stomach, legs, and feet. Most clients report feel relaxed and often fall asleep during a session. Sessions can last from ten minutes to more than an hour, depending upon available time. I as a Reiki practitioner can also send Reiki long distance (someone living in another State or Country) to promote healing to a loved one. Reiki has no side effects and does not work on all. However, most people feel relaxed after the session. You, the client must set your intent to heal. Normally 3 or more sessions are needed to receive positive outcome. Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use. It also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promotes recovery. Reiki in U.S. hospitals: The Reiki technique was developed in Japan in 1920. It was brought to the US in 1937 by Hawayo Takata and has gradually gained in popularity. According to the International house of Reiki, the doctors , nurses and patients report that Reiki reduces stress, decreases the amount of pain medication required, improves sleep and appetite, and accelerates the healing process. It has also been reported to reduce many of the unwanted side effects of radiation and drugs, including chemotherapy. Today, in U.S. alone hundreds of hospitals offer Reiki sessions to cancer patients. To learn more about Reiki, please visit International House of Reiki or call me for an appointment.
