A little about me: I am the mother of two beautiful children with the support of my loving husband. I decided to follow my dreams of helping other families because of my child, who is finally seeing better days because of the functional medicine approach. My daughter was diagnosed at age 3 with chronic pancreatitis, with severe abdominal pain, and a carcinoid tumor. Her diagnosis eventually led to an auto islet cell transplant with a partial pancreatectomy surgery at age 7. With our hospital experiences, our family helped other children in the hospital and I provided information to other parents about pancreatitis , as well as coping with Diabetes at such a young age.
A few years later, when my daughter was 15 years old , the pancreatitis hit again and she underwent another major 12 hour surgery with an islet cell transplantation and complete removal of her pancreas, and all the complications that came with that. Life changed. It was not the same for anymore. Everyone was affected by the freight train that came our way. Because of the specialized care she has required throughout her life, I have unique insights into the best treatments for GI problems, diabetes, adrenal issues, inflammation, weight struggles, insomnia, chronic pain, neuro endocrine tumor, arthritis, IBD, malabsorption, bowel perforation and many other specialized conditions that we bravely dealt with on a daily basis. My personal experiences in caring for my daughter gave me unique and valuable insights including dealing with schools, medical insurance and home health agencies. This prompted many other families in similar situations to seek my help, and I realized how much power there was in helping others by sharing my knowledge and getting better with the functional medicine, integrative medicine and lifestyle approach. Hence the chapter of Lifestyle and Health coaching begins in my life.
Functional medicine involves understanding the origin, prevention, and treatment of complex chronic diseases. Functional medicine is not a replacement for seeing your primary or specialty physicians. Rather, think of it as a supplement. I work with your primary physician to prescribe a healthy lifestyle that you, your doctor, and I all agree upon. This will serve as the best way for you to move towards a healthy life, tailored to your conditions, needs, and goals. I partner with clients seeking self directed, lasting changes, aligned with their values, which promote health and wellness and thereby enhance well being. I collaborate with licensed providers in helping clients achieve their goals by guiding them to their optimal health.
